The 51st Engineers day was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at the Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology ,Chandrapur on 15th September 2018.The function was organized by the Institution of Engineers (I), Chandrapur Local centre in association with Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology at the Chotubhai Patel Auditorium .
The Programme was inaugurated at the hands of Dr.Z.J.Khan, Principal Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research and Technology, Chandrapur. Dr.Vinod S. Gorantiwar, Chairman, Institution of Engineers (I) Chandrapur Centre and Dean I.I.I. Cell ,RCERT presided the function. Prof.R.K.Krishna Hon. Secretary, Institution of Engineers (I) Chandrapur Centre, Er.Pramod Singh, Head Enterprise Architecture Centre of Excellence, Persistent Systems Ltd., Nagpur and Er.R.S.Divahi, Scientist F, DRDL, Hyderabad were present on the dias. The theme for this year’s programme was “Digital Transformation: A new Industrial Revolution”. The Guests Er.Pramod Singh was welcomed by Dr.D.V.Bhope, Dean IQAC and Past Chairman IE(I)CLC. Er.R.S.Dinvahi was welcomed by Er.P.S.Kularni ,Dean (Academics) and past Secretary IE(I) Chandrapur Local centre.
At the outset, two of the teachers of the college, Prof.N.B.Warbhe and Prof.Parag Dhankar were felicitated at the hands of Dr.Z.J.Khan, Principal, RCERT. Prof.N.B.Warbhe has been recently elected to the Grievance Redreessal committee of Gondwana University and Prof.Parag Dhankar was elected to the Management Council.
On the occasion, an annual Technical Magazine launched by the students of the Mechanical Engineering Department “Tech Era “was released.
In his address Dr.Z.J.Khan, and Chief Guest of the Function, made the Staff and students aware of the importance of Engineers Day. He reminded the audience the various contributions of Dr. Viswerayyaa and his contribution in the Civil Engineering in India. He also gave an insight into the field of industrial revolution that is taking place in India and the transformation that is taking place due to digital transformation and the impact this will have on the Engineering fields and the Engineering education. He discussed the positive effects of Internet of things, machine learning and artificial intelligence and the vast amount of data that is being made available to researchers, and scientists due this digital transformation. Dr.Z.J.Khan was felicitated on this occasion at the hands of Dr.Vinod Gorantiwar, president of the function.
Dr.Vinod Gorantiwar, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers, Chandrapur Centre described how the IE (I) Chandrapur from a humble beginning in the year 2009 has evolved into a large organization with more than 350 members. He informed the audience regarding the completion of the first floor of the IE(I) building and the progress of the second floor. He remembered and thanked Hon. Hansraj Ahir, State Minister for Home, Government of India for his contribution and encouragement for the completion of the first phase of the Building. He also informed about the various programmes being conducted by IE(I).
In his welcome address, Prof.R.K.Krishna,Honarary Secretary, Institution of Engineers, Chandrapur Local centre described the evolution of the first, second ,third and Fourth Industrial Revolution the progress made because of the availability of genetic advances as well as biological realm which involves sensors, Internet of Things, Block Chain and Distributed Ledgers, 3D Printing, autonomous vehicles like drones.
The Guest of Honor for the Function was Er.Pramod Kumar Singh, Head Enterprise Architecture Centre of Excellence, Persistent Systems Ltd. and the alumnus of RCERT in the year 1995. He presented in details how the Industry 4.0 is focused on creating intelligent products, processes and procedures that leads to ubiquitous connectivity of people, things and machines. He discussed the vision of Industry 4.0 that is likely to be adopted worldwide and its influence other initiatives and cooperative efforts. He also discussed nine key technological components that progressively make up the foundation of Industry 4.0: Autonomous robots, big data, augmented reality (AR), additive manufacturing, cloud computing, cyber security, IoT, system integration, and simulation.
The Key note speaker for the Function was Dr.R.S.Dinvahi, Scientist F, DRDL, Hyderabad and also the alumnus of RCERT of 2000 batch. In his keynote address he discussed at length the progress made by the country as the industrial revolution progressed. He discussed the Digital Platform and how Industry 4.0 is being applied with three mutually interconnected factors that include digitization and integration of any simple to complex technical – commercial relation, digitization of products and service offers and new market models. According to Dr.Dinvahi all these human activities are interconnected through state of the art communication system, which include Internet of Things, Internet of Services and Internet of People.
He also discussed the three principal approaches in Industrial 4.0 concept that included horizontal integration, vertical integration and integrated digital engineering and also how the integrated digital engineering enables the collection and exchange of production data throughout the entire chain involved in product development and leads to reduction of large amount of production data accumulated throughout the life cycle.
Both the guests were felicitated at the hands of DR.Z.J.Khan, Principal, RCERT Chandrapur. The meet ended with vote of Thanks by Prof.R.K.Krishna, Honorary Secretary IE(I) Chandrapur Local centre followed by National Anthem.
