Chandrapur District : Census 2011 data


Chandrapur District Overview

An official Census 2011 detail of Chandrapur, a district of Maharashtra has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Maharashtra. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Chandrapur District of Maharashtra. 

Chandrapur District Population 2011

In 2011, Chandrapur had population of 2,194,262 of which male and female were 1,120,316 and 1,073,946 respectively. In 2001 census, Chandrapur had a population of 2,071,101 of which males were 1,062,993 and remaining 1,008,108 were females. Chandrapur District population constituted 1.95 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Chandrapur District was at 2.14 percent of Maharashtra population. 


Chandrapur District Population Growth Rate

There was change of 5.95 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Chandrapur District recorded increase of 16.88 percent to its population compared to 1991.

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that density of Chandrapur district for 2011 is 192 people per sq. km. In 2001, Chandrapur district density was at 181 people per sq. km. Chandrapur district administers 11,443 square kilometers of areas. 

Chandrapur Literacy Rate 2011

Average literacy rate of Chandrapur in 2011 were 81.35 compared to 73.17 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 88.73 and 73.65 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 82.94 and 62.89 in Chandrapur District. Total literate in Chandrapur District were 1,602,823 of which male and female were 891,925 and 710,898 respectively. Chandrapur District Urban Population 2011

Out of the total Chandrapur population for 2011 census, 35.08 percent lives in urban regions of district. In total 769,838 people lives in urban areas of which males are 396,276 and females are 373,562. Sex Ratio in urban region of Chandrapur district is 943 as per 2011 census data. Similarly child sex ratio in Chandrapur district was 919 in 2011 census. Child population (0-6) in urban region was 74,131 of which males and females were 38,633 and 35,498. This child population figure of Chandrapur district is 9.75 % of total urban population.
